Check out the new page

If I’m not spinning a yarn at the keyboard, I’m twisting it with my crochet hook into afghans, hats, headbands, scarves, boot cuffs, ponchos, purses, bumblebees, and whatever else looks fun and interesting. Time spent by the fireplace (actually, a wood burner) in my cozy chair during the long fall and winter evenings working new patterns into gifts for those I love relaxes me. It’s a gift not only for the person I’m crocheting something for, but also to myself – the gift of time to relax and do something I love.

And since one of the purposes of this web site if for you to get to know me better, I thought I’d add a “Crochet” page. Do check it out.

Welcome to my website

I’m so glad you stopped by.

I used to think my gift from God was the ability to speak, teach, and write. I certainly have the passion for all three.

But I’ve since realized that God planted the seeds of those skills in me, and it was my responsibility to discover, develop, and dispense them.

But they weren’t my spiritual gift. They were skills by which I use my spiritual gift – the gift of encouragement.

Ever since I was a child, my heart’s desire has been to encourage others – to put a smile on their faces and joy in their hearts. To lighten their burdens with laughter. To give them hope, a commodity that seems to be sorely lacking in today’s world. Or provide them a respite from the real world with a story about a gutsy gal who overcomes tremendous odds to find greater love and a deeper faith.

You might know me for my column, blog, and former radio program, God, Me, and a Cup of Tea. Or you might know me for my fiction, which I began writing in 2007. Or you might know me as a speaker. Whatever the venue, you’ll find yourself, as I often do, where faith, love, and life collide  and it’s an exciting place to be!
