My little flock
I serve as the lay pastor for St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Punxsutawney, Pa. It’s the yellow brick church in Elk Run, (behind Sheetz) on the corner of Graffius and Orchard avenues. Come worship with us. Our service begins at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
Let me help you make your event meaningful, insightful, and fun.
My speaking topics include:
Treasures in Jars of Clay (Aging with Grace) Everybody wants to age with grace, but how do you do it? Based on 2 Corinthians 4:16. This also would be excellent for a retreat.
God, Me, & a Cup of Tea Life is like a cup of tea, sometimes sweet, sometimes bitter. How do we handle the bitter cups of disappointment that life too often serves us? Based on Psalm 42.
God, Me & a Cup of Tea Women’s Retreat Discover, develop, and dispense your gifts and fulfill God’s plan and purpose for your life in this 5-session retreat which incorporates hands-on Bible study.
Growing Season Based on the parable of the soils, this talk draws on my gardening days to illustrate our lives as Christians. How do we work with the type of soil we are to produce a harvest pleasing to God?
A Hat for All Seasons: The Importance of Balance in a Woman’s Life In the course of a day, a woman wears many hats – sometimes more than one at the same time. How can we balance our lives so we don’t get burned out and still get everything done that needs done? Based on Ecclesiastes 3:1. Makes an excellent theme. If you know someone with a hat collection, ask if the collection could be displayed.
Holy Me! Holiness is not an option for the believer. But how can we live holy lives in an unholy world? Based on Leviticus 11:44.
Lessons from the Stones How can we, different as we are, work together as God intended? Based on 1 Peter 2:5.
Make Me an Instrument Based on Ephesians 2:10, “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so that we can do the good things he planned for us long ago,” this talk draws on my high school band experience to illustrate the point that God has created each of us for a unique purpose and has gifted us to fulfill that purpose.
Pop ‘n’ Stop How do we navigate the busyness of life? Michele’s “popcorn talk” helps you to recognize when to pop and when to stop.
Recycled! “Life is what happens while you’re making other plans.” How do we navigate the recycling times in our lives that are sure to come? Based on Proverbs 19:21.
The Lone Tulip How can you hope when all your efforts seem to be for naught? Based on Philippians 4:6.
Travel Light, Travel Right If you were asked to come up with four points of advice to give your kids as they leave the nest, what would you tell them? Illustrates four simple, yet profound points that will help make life’s trip smoother. An excellent topic for a Mother’s or Father’s Day or graduation speech.
What Kind of Bag Are You? We’re all bags of tea – different flavors serving different purposes. How do we discover what kind of bag we are? Based on 1 Peter 4:10.
What’s Wrong with Dandelions? When I was four years old, a neighborhood boy brought me my first bouquet of flowers, dandelions. My mother laughed and told me they were nothing but weeds. But life has shown me differently. Based on Romans 12:2.
WORDS Have you ever said something without thinking and watched the light die out of the other person’s eyes? Based on Proverbs 25:11.
These are just a few of my speech topics. I’ll be happy to develop a speech or retreat around the theme for your event. All of the above topics can be expanded for a retreat.
“I can’t thank you enough for all the time you put into teaching and preparing to minister to us. You are extremely talented and gifted, and your ministry to us was exactly what we needed. We love you.” – The Summit United Methodist Church Women (Erie, Pa.)
